Virtual Field Trip: Santorini, in the Aegean Sea

Still home, still working and so once again I was happy to find a virtual tour of another fascinating piece of the earth’s surface -- the Greek island of Santorini in the Aegean Sea.  Sandatlas provides a visit to the island/caldera -- possibly the remains of Atlantis.  What striking landscapes are created when a caldera forms in the ocean with just parts of it exposed.  The aerial view is especially lovely and intriguing.
More photos and information are available at the lengthy wikipedia entry on Santorini, including links to related geologic features.
